@armorArtichoke: The Brigid Bazlen version is NOT a Dance of the Seven Veils. She does not even use any veils at all. Therefore, the two different dances do not even compare. In any event I much prefer Rita Hayworth and her version.

@SultrySeeker Of course there is a veil in the Bazlen version, she's wearing it. The dances aren't the same but both are based on the same story, and both are meant to be seductive (this one is a striptease). It derives almost nothing from it's roots, probably because of the era of the film's production, and as a result the motions and expressions are abrupt and awkward to watch. Some people are into that I'm sure.

And to say that Rita Hayworth is not a talented dancer, in this video, as well as many many of her others is simply absurd. Rita is also a lot more beautiful than Brigid IMHO. But as they say, to each his own. BTW who is they?

Rita Hayworth is a lovely actress, maybe even a good dancer, but she's an awful bellydancer. So jerky and almost no real hip movement or fluidity... i mean it's a veil dance... I don't see why they couldn't have have cast some one like Samia Gamal, famous egyptian actress and bellydancer. or heck, even just have her choreograph the dance! seriously, youtube samia gamal, same time period, great artist :)
