  • Thanks nick, best videos I've ever seen. really useful.

What do you think of using brake cleaner for cleaning? I'm told its an excellent method, spray on, and wipe off with a rag or cloth to get rid of years of build up. Obviously afterwards, one could use WD40.

My bike is only a 125. So I'm not to fussed about being extremely meticulous. But in the 6years it's been on the road, I don't think its ever been cleaned properly.

  • hi and thanks,

Brake cleaner is pretty powerful stuff and I'd be careful where I use it, but it certainly de creases well!

    Kind regards

    Nick Hine

  • Impressive set of videos! Learned much, also

you make 1-man use of that bike stand look so easy :)

Actually I have a question about laquered parts such as forks legs etc. Of course once the laquer gets chipped, the dreaded white lurgy sets in. Would it not be best just to remove that laquer and polish the bare metal? and if so can you recommend a way to remove the laquer?

    Regards

    BrassBanjo

  • Hi and thanks, I always use paint stripper to remove laquer, but I take my wheel and mudguard off first to make sure I don't ruin any other paintwork. You can always re laquer the forks after they're stripped too.

    Cheers

    Nick

  • Definately a rep!

I just can't decide whether its for WD40 or Autoglym

  • Well, Autoglym did very kindly send us a box of goodies, but we asked them because we use their stuff anyway so I guess that's fair. As for WD40, I just think it's ace and I use it for all sorts of stuff. We didn't ask them for anything but perhaps we should have done! When we showed Autoglym the DVD though they weren't best pleased about all the WD40 shots! Whoops, they haven't spoken to us since!

    Thanks for your comments

  • i'm a big fan of cleaning with WD40 too, I have an Enfield bullet and have no car license so ride all year round, every day.

I find it impracticle to clean my bike after every ride in the salt, so now I just give it a good 'all over' squirt with WD40.

Although it picks up a bit more road crud, it wipes off no problem come the spring and I have no corrosion.

  • can i just bring my bike up to you for a going over lolol im joking but thanks for the video i brought a suzuki marauder and lets just say the bloke hdnt washed it fro what looks like an eternity so will be starting with vieo one and going through step by step (goodbye social life for a weeken) but great videos mate :)

  • Well done 'how to' series. Im about to give my ninja a thorough going over. Cheers for the tips!

  • Excellent series! I am a professional detailer (cars, trucks and vans) and was looking forever to find a how to guide on motorcycles. Same concepts, but I've learned a lot!

  • Awesome set of vids - given me a good idea of the cleaning process. How often would you clean like this of you're riding all year round?

  • Awesome videos. When the time comes i shall use this secret technique with honour sensei! *Bows*

  • the moral here: clean bike regulary

  • Loved your attention to all details of cleaning

  • I never knew there were so many facets to cleaning. This really was an engrossing series.

  • After you get it all up to snuff how often do you clean your bike? Just when it gets dirty or do you wash it regularly every couple of months? New owner here so just trying to figure it all out, love the videos though, very helpful and thorough.

  • Indeed, I'd love to know what some workable USA-market substitutes for the Auto Glym products might be. I have a Bandit 1200S that needs this treatment rather badly.

  • Great videos...many thanks

  • good advice, good jobs thanks from japanese one

  • Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!!!! Thanks once again for these videos.

  • Geez ! Im so tired just watchin all these parts .

  • Great job, I am faced with an old gixer which looks like it has NEVER been cleaned! I'm sure it will take me a full day so before putting in all the time and effort I want to use the right kit. Could you give a definative list? I am particularly confused on wd40, water based and oil based cleaners. However I understand if you can't be bothered to go into as much detail to help me as you did with helping your blade back to its former glory.

  • Awesome! I'm going to tackle my bike right now!!!

  • great series of videos i almost want to clean my bike now. What would have finished it off nicely is if you'd got on the bike at the end and cruised off into the distance.

  • You are a real pro.

My bike got cleaned and is shining most of the time.

    Thanks.

  • looks showroom

  • Awesome series!

If only I had the will/patience to clean my bikes properly...

I'm using ACF50 all year round to try and cut down on my effort!

  • Nick! You truly are a cleaning god! Thanks muchly !

  • this is a very helpful, tnx a lot bro
