Someday I'm going to marry this advertisement

Ah, this is my music track, I wrote & produced this in 1992 for Auckland ad agency Park Ave. Vocalist is local (NZ) singer Fiona MacDonald.

Thumbs up if you expected to see kids with guns.

@saturncast Not all Americans. A good majority of its teenagers today deserve to experience their own version to set them straight & act like actual human beings for once.

i just made the hat...i used to make hats under the name Crysalis Hats, a few were designed exclusively for Zambesi and i presume it was bought/borrowed for the add, a surprise to me to see a flash of it on the TV at the time. Are we now not wiser too???

Hi 'Old Dave'
I just made the hat, I used to make them under a label called Crysalis Hats and a few I made were exclusively designed for Zambesi, I imagine it was bought/borrowed from there by the stylist and used in the add....a surprise to me at the time to see a flash of it on TV! and aren't we now much wiser???

Holy heck! Haven't seen that one in AGES! I remember distinctly seeing this on TV in either late '92, or early '93 - watched the add in our old house before moving in April 93.

This ad is a sign of its time in all the right ways =) great tune, supports the product its selling, the girls are perfect, and sung by a New Zealand artist Fiona McDonald, the fundamentals of another great NZ production =D

Hello dementedseamstress,
I'm curious having read that you made the hat in the '92 Columbine ad. I directed the ad at Park Ave.
What's your name? Can't remember who the stylist was for that ad. Was it you or did you just make the hat?
A much older David Thomason.

This is the first ad I directed so quite memorable for me.
I came up with the idea at Park Ave Advertising, cast the girls and gave Larry Killip (Silverhammer) a vague music brief: 'It needs to sound like it keeps going and never stops. And the chorus is Do The Columbine'. Larry came up with this first time, it was nothing like I'd imagined, and I think it's one of the catchiest jingles ever.

I would've been happy just marrying one of the models. Unfortunately it didn't happen, even after I offered to clean and lift the toilet seat after every pee

The original Vince Martin Beaurepairs ad? I certainly have. Quite a memorable ad that one. My favourite on YouTube is the BASF "Dear John" ad.

Thanks for your comment. I love old ads, sadly there are many I don't have that I would like, so I'm doing my bit to make the ones I do have available to others. You'll be pleased to know there is plenty more to come.
