Ron Kuby: Eric Holder, Stop Torturing Us!

As you know, I am not a big fan of Eric Holder, our new Attorney General. But the latest from him is a bit too much, even for you apologists out there.

Eric Holder, after returning from a visit from Guantanamo, told reporters that "I did not witness any mistreatment of prisoners." He was "impressed by the people" and the "facilities are good ones." Nice job of sleuthing, Eric.

Let's see, if I were a sadistic guard at Guantanamo, I'm sure I would kick the shit out of a prisoner in front of the attorney general of the United States when he was paying a visit. I mean, why not? Since no one actually tortured anyone in front of Eric Holder, he felt comfortable pronouncing the place a virtual jewel. Is he that dumb? Does he think we are that dumb?

I have been a criminal defense lawyer long enough to know that prisoners lie about mistreatment (claiming it happened when it didnt), and guards lie about mistreatment (denying it happened when it did). The fact that I do not personally witness the claimed abuse, however, cannot possibly be used as a reason to sustain or refute it. Really, Eric, you are a disgrace.

As a progressive, arent you against stereotyping? So are guantanamo bay guards sadistic or is that a stereotype? Have you witnessed a guard mistreating the suspected terrorists? If no, then you have no basis for your argument, and you are assuming that guards regularly mistreat the prisoners because they are sadistic.

LOL.. good point lol.. what they should do, which is what i believe should be done in regards to the NYPD, is set up camera surveillance throughout the facility and have an independent group keep tabs on these guards.
