Executive Inn - The FInal Moments

The Executive Inn Rivermont was Imploded November 8, 2009 at 9:00 am. People were kept back from closr viewing areas except for so called VIP's where they had music playing and a close up view of the entire scene.. The only vip's in my opinion where those firefighters, demolitionists, emergency techs that were on the scene to protect the surrounding people and area..

I was one of the earliest employees that worked there when it opened and I was there the last day it was open in the Time Out Lounge singing and doing Karaoke. Personally I think it was a mistake to demoish it, but short sitedness from those in power who have their own adgenda and wouldn't listen to the people of the city and their ideas have once again proven.. The People Don't Matter it's what they want and the rest of us will just have to pay for it.

You do realize that the building was literally beginning to fall apart, right? The place was a piece of crap.

The only reason the building was in such disrepair was the lack of respect it was given when the holding company bought it and let it set. Then the city decided to buy it and once again let it set.

I was there the last day it was open.. It still looked wonderfull on the inside. It's a shame those in their little cooshie seats didn't have more respect for what the Executive Inn meant to this community and restore it back to it's former self..

it just needed renovating, it was outdated, not "falling apart", hell it wasnt but even 30 years old. they should have gotten rid of that burned wing, it did look pretty cheap even when there were still rooms there. it was to big of an icon to just blow up like that.

now its going to look like shit for years to come cause they dont even know what the hell to do with it, but i have heard talk of a convention center and another much smaller hotel, which either way is years off.
