Rage Against the Regime: Georgia protests in face of force

Thousands of protesters have been rallying for several days now in Georgia with the goal to overthrow President Mikhail Saakashvili. The opposition has vowed to take radical action by Wednesday saying that the current regime must go by then. Russia has condemned the dispersal of demonstrations with tear-gas and rubber bullets, saying it violates fundamental human rights. Opposition parties claim early elections are needed to stop what they're calling a "criminal" regime leading the country to disaster. The main opposition leader Nino Burdzhanadze told RT that people will continue to protest even if the government uses force.

@wikifarts RUSSIA did NOTHING to defend Georgians from Turks and Persians.In 1783 Georgia and Russia signed document which recognized bond of christianity between Georgia and Russia and promised to protect Georgia. despite this commitment to Russia rendered no assistance when the Turks and Persians invaded in 1785 and in 1795, completely devastating Tbilisi and massacring its inhabitants. This period culminated in the 1801 Russian violation of the document and annexation of entire Georgian lands

How can anyone trust Putin's mouthpiece, RT? Look...it would be nice if Russia nd Georgia could act more civilly towards each other and become firm friends BUT not whilst Russia acts like it still somehow "owns" Georgia. Russia lost many of its forcibly-united states after the break-up of the USSR and Putin has always said this was a Geopolitical disaster for Russia. Well, Mr. Putin, that's too bad. Georgia is a free country...leave them be!

@tripsadelica How can Russia and Georgia become friends when Georgia is firmly against Russia and sucks up its western masters? Georgia started the fight.
