Some of you may be wondering if your (2009+) Mac Minis are capable of running StarCraft 2 so I made this video to answer that question.

(Sorry for the crappy video quality, but that's cos I've lost my firewire cable and had to run the camcorder in webcam mode over USB instead -_- Either way, you get the gist of it.)

Now of course, you can't run the game on the highest settings, but a trial-and-error approach with medium to low settings results in a very smooth framerate (my personal priority over looks) in a resolution of 1280 x 800, in this case.

Obviously since the game is absolutely playable on the 2009 model of Mac Minis if you have the 2010 model there's no doubt it'll run even better, and should you wish to run it through Boot Camp, even more so.

P.S.
Some people seems to be unaware that the PC version and the Mac version is on the same disc, so you don't need to shop anywhere special to get the Mac version :)

  • @McKack really wow i thought it would have been 2010 at least, I'm guessing I should still run on medium to low settings though

  • @djcrawleravp It's so long ago I can't really remember the specific settings, sorry. I'd start out with the lowest possible settings then up one individual setting after the other to figure out what can be tuned to what. You can probably find the settings file somewhere (like in your user folder ~/Library/Preferences) and delete it if necessary without having to reinstall everything.

  • @McKack is to much to ask you for the graphic config on your mini? i have trying to play with the best graphics possible but if i configure it wrong my game crashes and i have to reinstall it.. and you know that sucks

    thanks!

  • on which graphic settings do you play it in this vid ?

  • It was all in the software..

Once I updated to 10.6.5, the game ran 100% better with graphics on high.

  • @McKack alright well thanks for the help dude. (:

  • @Bigfatwalmert Oh well. But I'm sure if you sell it to someone as "good as new" you can get most of your money back, or just hang on to it till you have a Mac or PC capable of running it :)

  • @McKack damn. and i can't return it since I already unboxed it.
