@Nathanrailfan the FEC is a class 2, and it began in 1895. But it has 4-5 factory new locomotives in it's fleet, so it is up there.

@Nathanrailfan nope, it has always been a class II railroad operating in the same area (gary, indiana to waukegan, illinois)

@VIA919 not exactly, they transport everything from coal, to oil to grain, and with the unlike most shortline and regional railroads handling sometimes a more particular commodity than others, the EJ&E delivers everything you would see on a class 1 railroad except intermodal, if you look up on google earth, east joliet, illinois there will be a large yard right there and that is the ej&e yard, cn now
