So you thought all I played was F-Zero X eh?

This is a run in Super Metroid where I go through the first three trips to Norfair in one run, using shortcuts and advanced techniques (well, wall kicks and good run jumping spots).

If you look at the game layout, the item collection order is supposed to go something like this from my starting point:

High Jump Boots
Spazer
Varia Suit
Speed Booster
Ice Beam
Power Bombs
Grapple Beam
Wave Beam

Using techniques shown in this video, I've switched up the order of item collection. This is how I did it:

Spazer
Varia Suit
High Jump Boots
Speed Booster
Wave Beam
Power Bombs
Grapple Beam
Ice Beam

With these techniques, a player can finish three seperate runs in Norfair in one run in about 15 minutes, saving so much time on a final score. Performing these moves will allow a player to skip several things. I managed to skip the long path to the Speed Booster, the long hike back for Power Bombs, and the Grapple Beam training.

Please note, this run is performed on the ZSNES emulator, but i've done all this in the actual cart version of the game too. Even though this is played on an emulator, no extra tools are used, this is all real gameplay, which is easy to tell because I make several mistakes trying to pull some things off. Remeber, i'm just trying to show off shortcuts, i'm not aiming for a fastest time, or to look like the world's best player. You'll notice this kind of thing when I make jumps in the large green room, and when I try to use a run trick to get a missile tank.

You may also notice the game kind of jump ahead in some spots and the message "STATE 2 SAVED" in the lower left corner, particurly during the decent to Norfair and upon exiting the Wave Beam room. Those were video recorder mishaps on my part.

Enough stalling with a description, time for the film.

I apologize if this video description is strange, it was originally written for a two part video.

  • Those aren't X parasites, I think they're small insect-ish creatures feeding on the corpse. If they were X, they would have attacked Samus considering their nature.

  • yes true, but on the other hand, they already were in a host organism, so thus they had no reason to. tbh, it still looks like an x infected GFS soldier to me :P but thats just me.

  • I think the one other detail that determines this, is that if I remember correctly, X parasites only exist on planet SR388, however, that doesn't mean they can't exist elsewhere, but I think that factor is pretty important.

  • You're supposed to get the ice beam, grapple beam and power bombs before wave beam? I guess I unintentionally sequence break'd then.

  • If you look at it, you're intended to get the ice beam so you can climb the brinstar shaft for power bombs, which you use to open the path to the grapple beam, which you use to get to the wave beam. That was the intention, but the single wall wall jump throws a wrench into that.

  • And btw, when ever I see this video and u get something important, I go like oh...

  • Lol at 0:57

  • Nice wall jumping skills!

    And thanks for the video

I was stuck on this part =D

  • @SoraXKokiri yea for sure id rather not get the grapple ever, which is possible but u dont even need the speed booster to get the ice beam either u dont even need the varia suit u just need to be able to do the mockball

  • @nyahman2 you don't need the grapple at all to get the ice beam. You can get it right after you get the super speed thing...to cross those doors that close when you get near.

  • @SoraXKokiri nah ur spose to get the grapple first then use it to get the ice beam but i usually get it if i have enough life to survive the heat or right after i get the varia

  • That's strange...I found the power bombs in other place. Is that normal?

  • @nyahman2 I thought that was the correct order

  • ugh, norfair got really annoying after a while. lol although i'm starting to think maridia will top it. XD

  • i flipin did kraid without spaser or charge beam and only 1 super misssile left

your a bloody good player though
