Bonneville Elementary receives a PRIDE award from publisher SRA/McGraw-Hill for adacemic performance improvement. SRA's programs were implemented to improve student reading skills and increase performance on standardized tests. Over 81% of the school's students are now reading on grade level.

  • @DrDennisMike Well, that's a fundamental problem in educational reform, and why it fails repeatedly. Most educational reform focuses on what teaching LOOKS like, and whether the way teaching LOOKS adheres to fashionable dogmas about what teaching is SUPPOSED to be. If we focus honestly (i.e., via serious research) on OUTCOMES (learning, self-esteem), we find out that methods like Direct Instruction are vastly more effective than typical teaching techniques. Looks can be deceiving...

  • If it's so good, how come you're showing teachers teaching with it? You've got a bunch of talking heads and a few kids reading well. An implication could be drawn that you don't think it looks good when it's actually being done.
