The discussion about Joe Quesada's comments about 'sexism' in Marvel Comics continues. How should have the Marvel EIC handled the criticism?

  • I agree with you on needing more various comic topics. My only little nit pick is that you started this addressing Marvel. I wouldn't expect Marvel to publish Initial D or Battle Royal.

The reason I tend to read more comics than Manga is that story arks are normally four issues rather then the 24 they are in Manga, I hate not being able to find the next book in the series.

  • Oh, then I'm sure you just LOVE the 30-plus Dark Reign books Marvel is pushing on you to buy so you can get the WHOLE story., right?

    ;-)

  • Enjoyed the show. But is all the cussing necessary?

  • Not really but that's just how I talk in everyday conversation. Mind you, I don't talk that way while I'm at work. Sorry. Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • Half agree. I can get the Fantastic Four Dark Reign books to go along with my monthly FF fix and get a little extra flavour, I just think that DR is propostrous and wouldn't read it anyway, except of course for the FF ones, they're great. Everything with the FF in is great.

Point is I don't need all 30plus volumes to follow the story, Why should I care what happens to the Avengers or Spiderman or anyone else?

  • Unfortiunately, in the USA we feel that comic are juvenile and adults who read them are juvenile or geeks who shouldn't be taken seriously. I worked in a library and know for a fact that females whether girls or adult women read books as their primary medium and feel that medium is vastly superior to comics that are for men of less than average intelligence in their opinion. I don't think the average lady would hold a fanboy in high esteem. Their lifestyle isn't cerebral enough for them.

  • Looking forward to seeing your guys' take on Unwritten. I'm not quite sure how I felt about it... I think I liked it, but didn't love it. I am interested in seeing where it goes from there, though.

  • He he. Actually I should have worded my comment better. I did not mean to imply that you implied anything. My bad. I just wanted to let you know that I enjoy those books.

I have been meaning to check out Madame Xanadu.

  • I didn't mean to imply you didn't read that type of stuff, just that it isn't reviewed generally.

Unwritten is a book I'm looking forward to reading. Madame Xanadu is a quality book every month as well.

  • For the record locus I really dig Acme Novelty Library. Rusty Brown is one of the BEST characters ever. I have also been reading the newest Phonogram series and like it. I got into that guys work by reading Suburban Glamour. Maybe I will do a reviews of those at some point.

I think I'm going to try to do at least one review that's "outside of the box". Like you said, it may not get a lot of hits but I think it would be cool to try. We have a re review of Unwritten coming.
