@Yakshinian Really? For how long did you try it? Once? One week?
i really wish for you that you never have to face an experienced Aikidoka in a street/bar fight.
Perhaps it doesnt suit you. But simply stating its not effective makes you sound ignorant.
-
because you never been to a real fight.
-
useless in real fight
-
everything is effective if you realy learn it around 6 month even pinalty kick can kill some one
-
I have been practicing one martial art for over ten years. These guys are training their muscle memory to be ineffective.
-
I have. It was not effective.
-
I AM an aikidoka. The asshole talked about his "muscle memory" as if he were some kind of dangerous assassin. Muscle memory serves you in times of dire need, it's not there for you to use unnecessarily. Read the original comment before you respond, you rectum.
-
Go to a dojo and ask to take part in a demonstration, then you can decide if it's effective or not.
-
You've never done any aikido so you don't understand how muscle memory works. Once you've done any martial art for a decent amount of time you'll start to understand.
ah very nice !

The concerns I have are that the ukes don't release their wrist grab as they are thrown. The second is that the punches are telegraphed and linger outward rather than snapping back, and third is the ukes charging. It seems aikido has no defense against a person who has trained basics in fighting: Sudden, hidden strikes. Lack of commitment until connection or just before (sometimes called flowing because it allows changing techniques.) Letting go if a grab doesn't work. Not showing intent.

Thanks for the comment. What you have said and observed are true. For me,as we examine the word aikido,(harmony-energy-study)is a kind of martial art that develop our sensibility, moving as a whole body, unified. This principle goes same in the part who defend and who attack.Thats why uke don't release his grip till the last moment,he needs to sense shitei.Second like the third,an attack has the intent to damage.Uke unifies w/ shitei & vice-versa.You must try it specially aikido yoshinkan.
