Rare version of of Adam's O Holy Night or O Helga Natt sung in swedish by Jussi Bjorling for the radio program "Pillerdosan". It was sung in the Söder Hospital. Harry Ebert-Piano If you want more of this rare Bjorling broadcast recordings go to http://tinyurl.com/24bdwy8 and buy West Hill Radio Archives set.
For those of you who never heard Bjorling in person - his voice was lyric (light). Although he sang with "balls" he still had a rather light voice - I know because I was at his Carnegie Hall Concert for my ninth birthday and my comment to my parents was "...but he has such a small voice" - however that withstanding - he was still able to thrill almost everyone who heard him because of the intensity of voice he commanded. He also had one of the most beautiful pianissimi that graced a singer.
@vpo2g2 - (" ... you get about a tenth ...") - No, indeed. The recording quality is decent-enough, and the piano accompaniment is quite fine. In ANY recording of Bjorling's, one can hear the projection, passion, scrupulousness and "indelibleness" of one with the UNIQUE tone and timbre. Also, as "tomfroekjaer" mentioned, there's the heart, also - THAT'S the one that shines-through the most, over the succeeding years ... IMHO!
@suffes Thanks for the details about this recording! Thanks God it was released. It is so intimate and a wonderful testimony to Jussi's big heart. Great that modern technology could make it suitable for release - doesn't matter a bit that he was too close to the microphone. I just love live recordings.
Yes, Christmas is coming up again - time to play the two greats again!
Great performance!

The recording equipment must have been primitive......you get about a tenth of Bjorling's voice.
