There is a growing Himalayan (Bhutanese, Nepalese & Tibetan) community not just in the San Francisco Bay Area but across the US and community organizations like Sahayeta and CHAA along with CAAM launched the first Himalayan Youth Summit to bring folks together to address the needs of the youth in the community. It was a full day for the youth participants who attended the summit, filled with opportunities to meet potential career mentors and attend interesting panels on media, the generation gap, health and other relevant topics. In the evening, the participants and the extended community came out in full force to to support the talent show competition and watch a beautiful fashion collection by Sahayeta Board Member Smriti Gurung. CAAM's Ellen Park covered the event for us and we bring a series of highlight clips as well as full video from the evening's entertainment.
Himalayan Youth Participate in the First Summit in Oakland
Sahayeta, CHAA, CAAM and other organizations launched the first Himalayan Youth Leadership Summit in August to address the Bhutanese, Nepalese and Tibetan community's need for access to resources and networks in the US. Take a look at what some of the youth participants had to say:
