The government displayed rare resolve over the boiling controversy over the Mau forest. Forestry minister Noah Wekesa was this afternoon the man on the spot as he firmly delivered the government message to parliament that the restoration of the Mau forest will continue. Wekesa also told parliament the government will not compensate hundreds of squatters who are currently moving out of the Mau forest. And as Richard chacha reports, the government now says it will provide humanitarian support to the squatters.

  • the bigest solution for kenya is to print money for its huge economic problems and people to stop debating why money is printed....GOK vs IMF vs CBK..... build roads..schools everything free schools, police, security ambulance fire engine, airports wildlife everything and common mwananchi gets 12000ksh evry week if you re poor or jobless...simple.if i was the president thats what ill d do.kibaki stays in with raila n they fuckn think..no time for compttion.vanessak1x.

  • We need to see the ring leader arrested for mass murder. You know who!

  • Prof Wekesa, stand your ground and do your work, kenya and kenyans must follow the rule of Law,people cannot invade forests, destroy the country and then DEMADE to be compensated, kick them out without mercy, they will then go back to their homes.Kenyans like free things, thats how IDPS numbers keep going up as people with homes joined them, hoping to benefit from free land and money from the Government. Stand your ground Hon Wakesa, and save the water catchment areas for the future of Kenya.

  • I am ashamed how the other ministers have left the battle to save the Mau to Raila and Wekesa.

I know for once that Uhuru Kenyatta has been silence on the issue because his family owns huge tracks of land in the Mau. that is why he is on Rutos side. what a hypocrate.

  • Unless wrong, Mt.Kenya and Aberdare squatters got no compensation.Solio runch??
