@ilovegod300 Gus Williams was a GSW. He had flashes of brilliance and showed what was to come, but he got traded. I forget for who and the why's. I thought he was too good to let go but he was. The 75-76 team did loose the chemistry, in the later part of that season, because during the regular season they had a good record and looked ready to defend the title but didn't get past the Suns. I was raised and was living in Oakland then we were so proud of that team they gave us great memories.
@ilovegod300 Bill Bridges was gone and Derick Dickey. Bridges was an enforcer (nobody messes with Barry) Dickey an Athletic husky forward that brought some toughness too. GSW did miss them against the Suns especially after Rickey Sombers went after Barry and he didn't get any back up from his mates. Supposedly Barry tanked it after that, which I doubt to me it was more like the young up and coming players quit going through Barry and the ball didn't move around as well as it did the yr before
1 game better then Bulls of western Div ,and the best in the Pacific.GSW of Oakland were not supposed to be in the Finals let alone beat the Bullets. The thing that bugs me the most is the fans were East Bay Oakland fans not SF money. Oakland always supported NBA Basketball. Has the best HS teams ,the best playground players the best ballers period over Frisco.Yet the country still refers to GSW as an SF team and SF isn't any where near the basketball power house city Oakland is. NCal all EB
GSW that year were us against the world mind set. They had a lot of talent too. Rookies that went on to all star status. Wilkes won 2 more rings in LA . Phil Smith All NBA . I think that GSW team has been over looked, and one of the most underrated NBA Champs ever. But what do I know I'm just posting.
Should have mentioned that the Bulls got off to a slow start due partly to Van Lier and Love holding out during contract negotiations at the start of the season. 1975 was the Bulls best chance to make it to the Finals. The Bucks and the Lakers, who defeated the Bulls in the playoffs every year in the early '70s, were not a factor in '75. And the Bulls were getting old, so this was their best shot. Motta blamed Love and Van Lier for costing them the home court advantage.
The Warriors did have the best record in the West, a game better than the Bulls. That's why Game 7 was at the Cow Palace. Interestingly, the Bulls defeated the Warriors 3-1 during the regular season. Had they been able to win one more game, the Bulls would have had the home court advantage in this series, and then who knows?
best, vs the worse, in the teams to make the play offs. GS wasn't even supposed to stand a chance to advance, let alone go 4 and champion against the Bullets. GS lone championship. They shocked the NBA. Played 8 people reguarlly a first
