War Made Easy reaches into the Orwellian memory hole to expose a 50-year pattern of government deception and media spin that has dragged the United States into one war after another from Vietnam to Iraq. Narrated by actor and activist Sean Penn, the film exhumes remarkable archival footage of official distortion and exaggeration from LBJ to George W. Bush, revealing in stunning detail how the American news media have uncritically disseminated the pro-war line of one administration after another.

War Made Easy gives special attention to parallels between the Vietnam war and the war in Iraq. Driven by media critic Norman Solomon's meticulous research and tough-minded analysis, it sets stunning examples of propaganda and media complicity from the present within the context of rare footage from political leaders and leading journalists of the Vietnam era, including Presidents Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon, Defense Secretary Robert McNamara, dissident Senator Wayne Morse, and news correspondents Walter Cronkite and Morley Safer.

Norman Solomon's work has been praised by the Los Angeles Times as "brutally persuasive" and essential "for those who would like greater context with their bitter morning coffee." This film now offers a chance to see that context on the screen.

  • the only two senators to vote against the Gulf of Tolkein Resolution to get us into Vietnam was Ernest Gruening and Wayne Morse. All of the other senators followed Johnson blindly, and then loudly complained about Vietnam. Does it sound familiar?

  • I guessing that he is probably turning over-and-over in his grave today.

Matter fact - We should go find his grave, and solute to this last great American politician.

  • Real Amercian hero

  • And since 1963, when GHW Bush and his father Prescott masterminded the Dallas assassination of John F. Kennedy as revenge for Kennedy's having recently fired their good family friend, Allen Dulles, from being the head of the CIA, too many prominent people who have tried to truly stand up and challenge the corruption in America and all around the world, have been silenced or assassinated -- "mysteriously".

  • Nobody stands up like this anymore because of George Herbert Walker Bush. Since at least 1963, he has controlled the entire western world through the terror and assassination network that is the CIA. The true purpose of the CIA is nothing more than Anglo-Germanic supremacy all over the world, and the destruction of anyone -- regardless of race -- who would ever interfere with that, through "race mixing" policies such as communism.

  • @Cooman456 --The Gulf of Tonkin, now undeniably a Total Lie, a "False Flag" operation, which seems to be what each new generation is manipulated and tricked with. KNOW HISTORY, it does repeat itself...

The Reichstag fire of Adolph Hitler to Vietnam to today...History is undeniable and anyone can research in 2 minutes these days.

  • I don't think a "democracy" is anything more than two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner, however I find it refreshing to see a politician willing to challenge the status quo, and to fight the unnecessary use of military action.

  • and now we have Ron Paul... will we listen?

  • @username0727 I was at the protest in 2003 in NYC where there were more than 100,000 of us protesting. Worldwide that day were millions protesting. I didn't see any tangible effect from that protest. It made me feel like it was a waste of time. I don't think the majority of Americans will protest for change until they, personally, are effected. I just think things have to get really bad for the majority of us to get off our butts. We just don't want to be or can't be bothered.

  • If the president is acting in an unconstitutional manner we should not only go against him.... but REMOVE HIM.... by any means.

  • Can we get some protest going people. lets get out there and protest this shit

i am in Illinois anyone else up for it... They wont stop this war unless majority of us show up and make them... So stop watching videos and lets do something about it.

  • Just like Ron Paul, he clearly saw an act that was unconstititonal. It is interesting that the only member of the House that spoke out against Vietnam was a fundamentalist christian by the name of Eugene Siler from Kentucky.
