On May 9th 2009, the Gumball 3000 Rally came through New Orleans enroute to Miami Beach, FL.
The Gumball 3000 Rally was formed from the idea of the Cannonball Runs from back in the late 1970's. At the end of the Cannonball Run movie a gumball machine is given to the winner* This rally was made famous by movie Cannonball run starring Burt Reynold's and Farrah Fawcett.
The US Express is the actual name of the Cannonball run organized by Brock Yates, an editor for Car and Driver.
Today the Gumball 3000 is a rally that lasts over 8 days and covers over 3000 miles. All kind of rock stars, movie stars, super models, baskball players, rich farts, etc; enter into the Gumball. This years entry fee for the Gumball was 45K.
This video is comprised of photographs shot by Dale Hall. The location is the Jackson Square brewery in downtown New Orleans district. There are also shots taken at the battleship Park in Mobile, AL. The Battleship park features the USS Alabama.
