Camp Shelby, Miss: PA Army National Guard soldiers of the 2-112th Infantry, 56th Stryker Brigade train for deployment to Iraq.
Normally operating in Lewistown, PA, soldiers of the 2-112th Infantry, 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team spent three weeks in June training in the Mississippi heat preparing for deployment to Iraq.
Pennsylvania's 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team is currently the only National Guard Stryker unit in the country and is a source of pride for the PA Army National Guard.
The soldier's training included Stryker vehicle familiarization, squad movement tactics, weapons qualification, reflexive fire and suppressive fire training, an urban assault course with Iraqi civilian role players, and shoot houses (used to simulate room clearing tactics.) Each training element was done first with dry fire (using no ammunition), then blanks, and finally with live rounds.
