I guess the answer to the unknown filesystem to replace ext* ended up being btrfs. Maybe it was still unknown when this video was made.

Darwin is not a real one. Hurd is not a good one (yet*).

Darwin is a hybrid too, which, depending on the type (I'm not sure what kind of hybrid it is) might not be so bad, but it's APL.
Solaris uses a monolithic kernel.
Minix would be on the right track, yes.
But I was thinking about a complete and actively developed one. Linux is such a brand, hardly anything else gets any attention unfortunately.
Debian GNU/Minix would be veeery nice :-)
