  • I have been doing marble for about ten years or so. I started with a discarded headstone of all things. I got the tools from an old blacksmith in Vermont and only get the chance to do a few each year. I got some soapstone last year and you can cut it with your pocket knife an scratch it with a fingernail. Way too soft. I have not tried alabaster or chlorite, although they can be quite pretty.

  • Interesting stuff! I've just recently taken up stone sculpture myself, working with alabaster and chlorite, still finishing up my first couple pieces.

Haven't worked with marble yet, but definitely want to. How long have you been sculpting?
