A deficiency in lactase, the enzyme responsible for digesting the lactose present in diary products, is common throughout the world. Approximately 70-90% of Black, Asian, American Indian, and Mediterranean adults are deficient in this enzyme. Many children lose their lactase by three to seven years of age.

Symptoms of lactose intolerance include flatulence, cramps, belching, a bloated feeling, and watery, explosive diarrhea.

Recommendations include avoiding or limiting the intake of dairy products, taking digestive enzymes with meals, and supplementing with probiotics to promote recolonization of the GI tract.

Enzyme Supplementation Suggestions:
•High Lactase Formula or High Potency Digestive Enzyme Formula with every meal
•Probiotic Formula daily
