After being lost for decades, the only surviving footage of one of Lovecraft's only silver screen appearances emerges from the Hollywood vault. Shot in 1936, a year before his death, this footage of Lovecraft was shown for only a week at the Massachusetts Cineplex before showings of My Man Godfrey. Because of its abnormally low circulation and it being prematurely pulled from the theater, Lovecraft lost what little money he had on this publicity stunt and would spend the last year of his life in debt.
