    The center insulator is most definitely needed.

    It separates one half of the horizontal wire to the other half.

    One wire of the coax feed-line goes to one half and the other side of the feed-line wire goes to the other half of the horizontal wire.

    Apart from that your construction looks very good.

    Insulators are also required for RX use., otherwise you will get an interaction with the supports which are grounded. (especially when its wet)
