In order to transfer a domain name from one registrar over to another, first you have to set things up on the registrar where the domain is currently hosted in the Domain Manager. In this case GoDaddy.

Make sure the administrative contact information is correct. If you want to transfer this domain right away and the admin info is at an active email address, then do not make any changes to it or you will have to wait 60 days before you can transfer that domain.

In the above video, I will show you the domain transfer process of How to Transfer a Domain From GoDaddy to Bluehost, how to unlock the domain, have Godaddy send you the authorization code by email, go in to your BH Control Panel and choose Transfer Domain, and then walk you through the steps to complete the transfer.

PLUS... how to instantly transfer a domain from GoDaddy to your new hosting account with Bluehost. You can learn more about Bluehost here...

  • thank you for your halpful information. what if i by mistake regsitrated with a wrong email and had to change it? do i have to wait 60 days? is there any way i can make it quicker?

  • @luliluli71 Contact Where are you changing the email address... at Bluehost?? If so, contact Bluehost tech support to troubleshoot that. Or are you saying that the email at GoDaddy was wrong and you want to change it at Bluehost? At GoDaddy, you need to leave the admin contact email alone for the transfer to complete. My best suggestion since I am unfamiliar with your case is to contact the gaining registrar... in this case Bluehost.

  • how do i transfer my web hosting to them

  • great video.

  • I have a lot of settings established on godaddy, but i just want to host my site contents on bluehost. How do I maintain all those DNS Zone settings that godaddy has when i start building my site on BlueHost? Basically I want to keep my registrar as GoDaddy, but host the site on BlueHost.

  • after the tranfer, do you need to keep the godaddy account or is it safe to cancel? will the recurring annual domain cost be charged to blue host going forward?

  • Hey this was really helpful, thanks!

  • Thanks Kimberly. This was very helpful.
