Actually Naruto Never Protected Hinata, he encouraged her. (Unless you count Fillers, which is always positive on Hinata's Character and she often saves him as well.)

Hinata stood up for herself after naruto Cheered her on, unlike Sakura who needed to be saved up until Shippuden. And 'Never give up' is Hinata's Character also. Because she wants to be stronger like Naruto.

@hetomi1 Don't forget Sakura has always known how Naruto felt about her but she never accepted him that way now she seems to be wavering a little but she might be too late cause I don't think Naruto looks at her that way now especially after Hinata .Sakuras problem is I dont think she really knows the difference between love and infatuation Sauske has never shown romantic feelings towards her so why does she love him she questions this fact herself in one of the eps where she plans to kill him

@hetomi1 I think Sakura has feelings for naruto.but only after she heard Hinatas confession too him.So in typical way she realized this after she was hit with the reality that someone felt strongly about Naruto and he showed his maturity when he didn't accept Sakuras confession,it seems that he accepts that she loves Sauske and has moved on even if he flirts with her,Hinata caught him off gaurd and I don't think he knows what to feel I think she has a better with him than Sakura at this point

@hetomi1 It's elementary. I see things from Naruto's perspective first. Naruto doesn't see Hinata as a girlfriend and Hinata (even though she does love Naruto) may not exactly love him in a romantic way. She has always seen him as her role model, inspiration, and guiding light her mostly troubled life but not really as a boyfriend

@hetomi1 No she's not. Sakura hs no feelings of love for Sasuke, at least not romantically. Sakura just failed to kill Sasuke because she could'nt bare to kill someone who has made such an impact in her life since her days as a kid until then

By the way, one pairing already became canon AsuKure (Asuma and Kurenai)
