Let's get a couple things straight: Kevin Barnes is a great songwriter and of Montreal is one of the most interesting bands out there today. However, the jumbled, obnoxious, bizarre sounds on this album are turning me off without question.

False Priest takes it down a notch with the electronics, but that hasn't stopped the music from coming off eccentric. Barnes' vocal delivery is more pronounced than ever, layering one wacky falsetto over another.

There were a lot of highs and lows for me on this album, which will make for great conversation among fans. This band still has my admiration, but that doesn't mean I'm going to follow them everywhere they go.

The bass line isn't as loud as it used to be? What quality speakers were you listening to it on, because the bass has never been BIGGER or LOUDER or more INTENSE ever before on an oM album.

Also I'm confused. Because at times you say the sound is too flat - like a one track sound. But then later you say there's too many layers. You also failed to recognize the concept of the album, and the interesting monologue at the end. I don't care if you give the album a poor review, but you should stay consistent and not be so complacent. The album deserves a high 6.  Oh, and btdubs, you can't have a high 10, because the scale stops at 10.0. ~

of Montreal is my very favourite band as of now. I listed to cherry peel everyday, mostly because of my fiance. It's her favorite album by them. I don't ever see me tiring of their songs ever.

i gotta give it a 9 or a 10, i like how the sounds are all mashed together and stuff, i dunno why i guess my mind processes it well. i love the variety and everytime a new type of sound kicks in to the songs its like a mini eargasm that just adds to the song i dunno, i love every song on this album, and i can say that for a lot of them

i would give this album an undeniable 10 because it is EXTREMELY creative. Especially tracks like "Hydra Fancies" and "Godly Intersex", but I respect your opinion and I understand that there are moments that can get overwhelming to the average indie rock consumer. However, this album is in no way as overwhelming as their last one, "Skeletal Lamping"(which I personally thought was brilliant), so I would say listen to THAT one first before you review this one.
