Best sounding snare made - period!
-
i love the meatiness of it but i would personally go wit the tone from a 20 or even a 12 strand snare.
-
sounds so dark, so good

anyone interested in these snares you gotta hear em in the flesh. they sound crazy. Ear piercing perfection. and a massive 42 strands.

This is the best snare ever made. Its heavy, it rocks and is god gift to drummers. Way to go John, Power, Passion, Perfection.

I recently traded it for a 14" x 8" starclassic bubinga (made in Japan) in Scorched Copper Burst. When I had the JT, I used Evans 300 hazy for the bottom and EC2 Reverse dot on the top.

@slave2indierock Nice! What heads do you have on it? And what music do you play? Mainly thinking of the versatility. Good to as someone who has one and has fiddled around with it.

I own a John Tempesta Signature. I've owned a G-Brass (5.5" x 14" 1.5 mm) in the past and and older Bell Brass 8" x 14". I've also played the Signature Ulrich Bell Brass Snare and the Praetorian. Of all of the Brass snares, the Tempesta is my favorite. The G-Brass and Bell Brass had cool tone, but I was hesitant to really lay into them. The Ulrich BB and Praetorian can take a beating, but I just don't dig the look. The JT takes a beating, looks great and still sounds amazing.

the diamond plated steel sounds like ass. haven't tried the bell brass. but from what i heard the tempesta sig pwns the praetorian bell brass.
