Ohio Senate Passes Dating Violence Protection Bill
Ohio Senators have unanimously passed a House bill that would allow juvenile courts to issue protection orders for minors in dating relationships.

The Ohio House of Representatives is expected to concur Wednesday. The legislation would then go to Gov. Ted Strickland, who is expected to sign it.

The bill was inspired in part by the plight of Cleveland teen Johanna Orozco, who was shot in the face by her 17-year-old ex-boyfriend in 2007 has had numerous operations. Orozco wanted to get a protection order, but Ohio juvenile courts cannot issue them against minors.

An advocacy group said in a national survey last year that only a handful of states have laws enabling minors the same protection order rights as adults.

  • It is a FACT that almost all men that are accused of abuse . . have in fact abused the women. In this case the much lesser harm is done . . if the accused abused is locked up for a month. In the one case out of a g'zillion where the women is lying, and the man never laid a hand on her . . . It is regretful . . . but not nearly as regretful as the hundreds of women that are further abused and killed by their abuser who wasn't immediately put in jail.

  • { It is a FACT that almost all men that are accused of abuse have in fact abused the women }

    Very true I do not know if the other abusers in these stories here were jailed for abuse. However I do know Carrie's killer never was. Be4 he killed her Why?

    #1 He saw the village bully & his daddy got him out of everything (even shooting his bestfriend) His whole family R bullies

    #2 the cops would not work

    #3 He told Carrie he would kill her family

    Carrie's death helped 2 change the DV laws in town

  • i think ANY man accused of domestic voilence should be sent to jail for a month (at least) "before" being convicted.

    In this case it should be "guilty" until proven innocent. If men are concerned that a women might accuse him by lying. . . . let the MEN be careful and on a watch out for what kind of women they date!
