The Beastie Boys strength was always in innovation. Were there "better" acts at any given time? That's an argument for another day. But the Beasties were ALWAYS ahead of their time. Just as nature hates a vacuum, the music world hates truly innovative acts. Very shortly after a new genre comes to market, the market is shortly thereafter a flood of "just likes".
