Custom white balance. Slight overexposure of the faces. Using shade with direct sunlight hitting the background behind the models. Correct digital workflow for processing the raw images. That is a start.

I never said it was all ambient light. The guy asked how to get some results like that and I gave him some pointers that might result in images close to what is show here. BTW there are a few shots here shown that are ambient light only.

First of all you have to have the right lenses! The fast ones.... The expensive ones... ;) And lots of gear. For an amateur it is quite impossible to get shots like these.
