Luke Pritchard of The Kooks speaks us about the recording of this year's anti-X Factor single, recreating composer John Cage's experimental work 4'33", the sound of an orchestra not playing.

The single will raise money for five charities, including Calm, a service for young men at risk of suicide and the British Tinnitus Association.

  • Some interesting comments below... don't mistake being very chilled out for 'stupidity'... these talented individuals with record contracts are the guys giving their time to charity and despite their so called 'stupidity' there are people interested enough from the likes of the BBC to record them... so let me know when the BBC record what you have to say... and we can see how 'stupid' that sounds.

Oh dear... no one has put a microphone in front of your hate? I wonder why!

    Thumbs up for Cage...

  • @dudemusicspace In that it doesn't give the Kooks much chance to be idiots if they're not saying anything. Hard to put a fake squeaky accent on silence. Love for the Cage man though! Next year we should push the Steve Reich tape loop thing for Xmas number 1 in Tapes Against The machine.
