Saffron Burrows stars as Mel, a young woman in New York City who loses her boyfriend and her job and is given a devastating terminal cancer diagnosis by her doctor all on the same day. Mel's surprising response to her misfortunes includes renting a loft and the purchase of a special guitar. She always wanted to play the guitar since she was a little girl. Why not do all the things you want to do especially when you only have a short time to live.
This captivating portrait of a woman's self-empowerment (including a tryst with the pizza delivery girl and the deliver man) won raves at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.

@GVDobler 57 hot rod is one step above a standard american strat...hardly fenders 2nd or 3rd most expensive guitar,not even close...and a 1500 guitar by todays standards is cheap.....not the point i was trying to make anyway...the point i wantedto make is that this movie is going to appeal to top 40 music people who never picked u p a guitar in their lives and think its something you can just do overnight...

Just watched The Guitar on the Sundance channel. I loved it. Saffron Burrows reached right into my heart. And it was nice to see more Paz de la Huerta since her exit from Boardwalk Empire.
