Engl Invader 150 E 640 Test Clip #2 KT77 JJ

Someday I'l mic this up right since the camera can't handle any volume. Yanked out the EL34s and put in some KT77s. I had a nice long description here but Youtube deleted my account so I have no ambition to rewrite it!!!!

So I imagine you got replace the stock tubes with 6L6s too?

Actually the Invader is made with EL34s to give it more of a british sound, more mids and more bite. KT77s are direct replacememts for EL34s. KT77s have a rounder sound, less harsh mids and more lower mids. The clean sound is more bell like, chimey. It's not for everyone since some folks really like the EL34 upper mid grind. You do have to bias the KT77s slightly hotter.  That's a bit chore but not THAT hard to do.
