SCULLY: Mulder, where did you go?
MULDER: End of the road.
MULDER: Harold, you see so much but you refuse to see him. You refuse
to let him go. But you have to let him go now, Harold. He's protected.
He's in a better place. They're all in a better place. We both have to let go, Harold.
SCULLY: Mulder, what happened? Are you sure you're all right?
MULDER: I'm fine.
(MULDER looks up at the starry sky, and sighs.)
MULDER: I'm free.

@GoForkYourself there is only one moment in TV history I like more... Jump the Shark.

I actually think Samantha being dead was the best ending. In the end, the XFiles was about how the most amazing things - the Truth - are the ones that happen in ordinary life. So Scully says to William in season 9 "the truth is out there my son, but not in science, or on some unseen plain. To see the truth, you have to look into your own heart, and you will be both blessed and stricken". The truth is that they love each other, and Samantha is dead. Knowing this, Mulder is blessed and stricken.

@whatupcuzzzz while I don't agree on all of that, I DO agree that they tried to tie up a lot of sloppy loose ends suddenly in one episode and it wasn't cool. I didn't really appreciate the whole she got kidnapped by some pedophile thing either. especially after so much was invested into her being part of some ultimate "bigger picture"..

@whatupcuzzzz Damn, psycho path.

There will never be another X-Files. Some that come close maybe. But ultimately we want to feel that whatever its problems....the US Gov't has agents that are talented and tough enough to face the unmentionable/unspeakable so we can sleep well.

I was looking for SO long for this song!!!! I didn't know it was from Moby!
I thought Mark Snow had composed it >__<
You're my hero!!! :D
I cried so hard, with Mulder in the end..... "I'm free.." :')

Wow... just saw this episode ("Closure", season 7, episode 11) for the very first time since I was a kid, roughly an hour ago. I think the ending is one of the most beautiful moments in the history of television. Especially for long time fans like me, who grew up with Mulder's quest to find Samantha. I almost cried... it was so heart-warming and cruel at the same time. But finally... "I'm fine... I'm free."

this was one of the best scenes in tv history.
