As the scene opens we catch a train entering the Frisco bridge from Memphis. We then focus
our attention to the Harahan bridge. No trains here but we reveal some mighty interesting stories
and maybe a ghost or too. This area is no longer accessible to the public, so sit back and enjoy a
kinder gentler time.

  • Thank you

  • According to internet sources (stevecox.com/harahan/part4.htm) they were smothered in the wet cement of one of the support piers.

  • In the mid 2000s, BNSF rebuilt the Frisco Bridge to handle heavy coal trains. The approach to the bridge on the Arkansas side of the river is the biggest hill on the line between Memphis and Thayer, Mo., and it is possible to stall out on it because of strict throttle position regulations governing movements across it.

  • which bridge is the longest in memphis and which bridge carries the most train traffic in memphis, and which bridge carries the most car traffic in memphis
