Scientology struck down legislation that would allow almost anyone to accuse someone of being mentally ill, where that person would be picked up and trucked to a FEMA camp in Alaska, without a trial, in direct violation of the Constitution.

Scientology defends the US Constitution

Let the criminals go to jail, and let those who have problems clean themselves up, obey the law, and do better in life.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Alaska Mental Health Enabling Act of 1956 (Public Law 84-830) was an Act of Congress passed to improve mental health care in the United States territory of Alaska. It became the focus of a major political controversy[1] after opponents nicknamed it the "Siberia Bill" and denounced it as being part of a communist plot to hospitalize and brainwash Americans. Campaigners asserted that it was part of an international Jewish, Roman Catholic or psychiatric conspiracy intended to establish United Nations-run concentration camps in the United States.

The legislation in its original form was sponsored by the Democratic Party, but after it ran into opposition it was eventually rescued by the conservative Republican Senator Barry Goldwater. Under Goldwater's sponsorship, a version of the legislation without the commitment provisions that were the target of intense opposition from a variety of far-right, anti-Communist and fringe religious groups was passed by the United States Senate.[2] The controversy still plays a prominent role in the Church of Scientology's account of its campaign against psychiatry.

  • We do live in a society that blindly accepts stupidity as "psychiatry" . There is no consensus among doctors as to what constitutes Bi-Polar Disorder , yet millions have been diagnosed with it . Worse than that , they are given drugs like depakote which have NEVER been shown to have any efficacy whatsoever . The answer to this is obviously not Scientology , a whole seperate set of B.S. , but to question what we are told , follow the money , form our own opinions .

absolutely, because they are the same asssholes

  • Miscavige is, as usual, either a liar or ignorant of the facts. Hubbard got on the bandwagon against that bill (which was intended for mental health for ALASKANS) only after an article appeared in the Santa Ana (CA) Register. He was, as usual, just trying to look like he was "normal" and "thoughtful" in the public eye. Look up "Siberia Bill" on Wikipedia.

  • Hey ! He looks like Tom Cruise !

  • I don't know the backstory of this bill that is talked about, but I urge viewers not to accept what this interviewee says at face value. Scientology has a known history of exaggerating, embellishing and plainly making things up. I propose the opposition to psychiatry stems from dianetics (Hubbard's co-creation prior to Scientology) being ridiculed by the psychology community.

  • this is true what they description says this is what they have been doing to us stay inside the box and you wont have to worry about it, or in other words if you have nothing to hide then you shouldn't have a problem giving up your rights.
