http://www.bbc.co.uk/offbyheart In April 2011 BBC launched Off By Heart Shakespeare - a performance contest for 13-15 year olds to be filmed for a BBC Two documentary.

We challenged 10 celebrities to perform one of the speeches from the Off By Heart Shakespeare set speech list. Michelle Ryan (Eastenders and Merlin) plays Helena from A Midsummer Night's Dream as she confronts her feeling of betrayal by her best friend.

Watch an interview with Michelle Ryan here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/teachers/offbyheart/speeches/midsummer_night_thi...

In June 2011 all schools in the UK are invited to nominate a student to take part in a regional heat and recite a famous Shakespearean speech. Nine finalists will compete in a televised final.

If you'd like to take part, you need to be registered and nominated by your school. Find out more at http://www.bbc.co.uk/offbyheart

  • She looks so fricking angry as if she was cheated on by some man.

  • This lady is great!!!

  • @SuperYellow1989 Fair enough yeah that's your opinion and you know mine. I have seen loads on stage also and as a drama student we are taught kind of like that to an extent but I respect your difference of opinion.

  • @km18082012

    lets agree to disagree lol

i think shes just a bad actress.

And i think you mean shakespeare is dramatic not filled with over acting and hamming it up.

And yes ive seen loads of them on stage with proper old school acting , charm and the right kind of drama.

this just seems like an amature job with all the hand movements and the silly pauses, i mean you can actually see her next move in her face before she makes it, its just not real.

  • @SuperYellow1989 Shakespeare is supposed to be 'overacted' have you never seen any Shakespeare play's put on? I think this is very Shakespeare and she has done a really good job.

  • I love this! This is one one my favourite monologues from one of my favourite plays!

  • very head girl , drama school-ish

    too over acted

  • This is brilliant.

  • this is amazign!

im more of a musical and visual art person, meaning,

    i dont really like drama

but if i were able to remember lines from shakespear, i would audition for one of his plays in a heart beat!!!

  • Spechless in a good way!which if u no me is not something that happens all to' often
