"Walkin' " performed live by the second Miles Davis Quintet released on "Four & More" (Columbia Records).
Fantastic live performance on Feb. 12, 1964 in Philharmonic Hall, Lincoln Center, NYC.
Same line-up as on "My Funny Valentine" playing up-tempo.

Miles Davis - Trumpet, Leader, Composer
George Coleman - Tenor Saxophone
Herbie Hancock - Piano
Ron Carter - Bass
Tony Williams - Drums

  • This Walkin on coke!...I don't why Miles keeps augmenting

    the speed of this number????

    It's Walkin not Running

The Lucky Thompson & Horace Silver recording is perfection.

  • @johnnynoirman

You gotta know, Miles was told that his band would not be paid for the gig about 5 minutes before they started.

One could think they wanted to let off some steam.

  • nice melodic drum solo!

  • @nadirsharav

Tony Williams was 18 years old when this was recorded.

    Absolutely amazing.

  • That a great back story to this performance FunkySkunk98

Was it a charity event or what?

Lincoln Center should be ashamed not to pay these legends...

    .

  • Hahaha that makes sense..This is a great performance..it's just

that every time a another version of Walkin..The tempo gets faster..and faster

it's amazing they are can pull it off FunkySkunk90.Miles was the best!!!

But do believe that The Lucky Thompson & Horace Silver recording is masterpiece?

It is in my book. But thanks FunkySkunk90 for putting diferent version of this tune.

Cause we will never see the likes of these guys a again..

  • @FunkySkunk90 yes... very bop-ish stuff form this non-that-bop-ish band.
