In 1994 Laïs was born; a group of three girls singing songs that grew straight from their Flemish folk roots and evolved with them through their own unique sound. 'Unique' in fact is a good word for these girls, since they have always done things their own way, setting up many surprises for their audiencies at gigs in and around Belgium, such as the Folk Dranouter and the Rock Werchter festival. Jorunn Bauweraerts, Annelies Brosens and Nathalie Delcroix have sculpted their own path, taking risks and finding exciting new ways to present themselves.
With 'The Ladies' Second Song' -- their fourth album -- Laïs have taken yet another new direction. This time they have picked up their words from such greats as W.B. Yeats, Paul Verlaine and Pablo Neruda to work with instead. For the first time they have written some lyrics of their own and even added a rich electronic sound to their music to top it all off. Dan Lacksman (from Telex) did the mixing and together they worked on something new and innovative (still, of course, keeping folk at the core).
Ze zingen zo goed... geen woorden voor.
Heb ze live gezien/gehoord en het was echt
zalig goed! Als ik er ooit nog eensnaartoe kan gaan, dan ga ik vast en zeker ^^
