I tried best as i can to capture my killifish hatching 45 minutes after adding the peat moss with eggs in water. I didnt think that they would hatch that quick but anyways 2 hatched and another 2 hatched the following day and another 1 hatched on the 3rd day i now have a total of 5 killies. 5 days after adding them i can see a few more hatching but i dont think they are going to survive they look a bit deformed so i think i will wait a bit and see what happens if not i will cull them, better to have a few good ones than lots of deformed fish. Im feeding them on live fairy shrimp at the moment which they seem to love eating im going to wait until they get bit bigger and get them on brine shrimp and maybe start them feeding on powder baby fish food.

  • thanks for the video, very cool.

I started trying to hatch killifish eggs my gf brought me.

It's one day since i put the peat moss into the water and only 1 fish hatched so fart.

Fingers crossed that more will come.

  • @bonsonjim Yeah it happens if the eggs arnt ready to hatch just make sure to remove the unhatched eggs with the peat moss if you want to try again. Remember not all eggs hatch and if alot of eggs hatch most dont survive.

I like to use COOL dechlorinated water and just make sure that it splashes over the eggs rather than gently pouring it in the tray to mimic a heavy rainfall that trick works very well. Also make sure the eggs are from a trusted dealer usually from Thailand. Good luck bro

  • @vassilis359995 yeah bought them on ebay, like 20 eggs for like 8 bucks free shipping so it isnt too bad

  • @Xtractable yeah get more why not , what killifish eggs did you buy are they from Thailand?

  • @vassilis359995 ok thanks so much!

  • @Xtractable And remember eggs from ebay are already incubated and ready to hatch they are quality eggs, you will get results in 15 minutes after adding cool water.

  • @Xtractable The eggs didnt need to be incubated and they shouldnt have been placed in a cup thats why they didnt hatch and you should add cool bottled water not fish tank water only a couple of inches of water for the 1st few days and gradually increase the water level and keep a small light above them 24 hours a day so they are always feeding so that they grow quicker. NO INCUBATING NEEDED and never expect to hatch all the eggs you be lucky to get 5 to 8 good fry out of 50 eggs

  • @vassilis359995 i bought the eggs on ebay and i added water from my tropical freshwater tank, not mineral water, and yes i put the eggs in first then the water

  • @vassilis359995 goddamnit i thought the instructions said to incubate them for 2 months. so basically i did everything wrong haha. do you think i should just get more because they were only 8 bucks and they still havent hatched yet

  • @Xtractable You heated the eggs?? as in an incubator???? The peat must have dried up if it was in a cup they should have been in a sealed plastic bag. If you bought the eggs online the egg wouldnt have needed incubation you could hatch them as soon as you get them. Also dont use fish tank water use mineral water (not sparkling) Killifish need clean water only a few inches deep, The water should be poured on to the peat arround 30 cm high to mimic a rainfall and use brine shrimp to feed them
