Airbus A380 flying low over the Hong Kong Victoria Harbour as part of an international airshow. I am standing on the roof of a 15 metre high building and this aircraft is flying at FL10 (300 metres) from ground. A380客機於香港維多利亞港以離地三百米低飛,攝於海運大廈天台。

As to the concern about airplane disasters or airplane attacks, I could honestly say that there weren't anything valuable nearby to lose. LOL(Finanial centers were nowhere near. The most valuable building there was the airport itself) But, certainly, more lives could be lost than 9/11's if one plane really dropped.
I am not sure if you are talking about this flight in particular, or if you are talking about the regular landing route of the older airport. The landing route of the old airport was sure pretty close to residential buildings, but the people who lived there got so used to it. Some people actually felt a bit discomfort without the massive engine noise rumbling overhead.
Airplanes were landing in HK at very low altitudes at Kai Tak airport so they're used to low flying aircraft... you should check out the videos of Kai Tak. I loved that airport, such fun when the plane banked right and made a steep descent to the runway. (Oh happy days).

Airbus A380 is twice quieter than Boeing 747. But, what will Kai Tak turn into in the future. Cruise Ship terminal? New residential area?

They used to get planes flying over their heads every single day. :P

Thanks for your detailed explaination.
Yes, the old Kai Tak airport is much more magnificent than this show and aircrafts flying above your head is just matter of the day.
But Kai Tak is closed in 1998 and people really miss this close touch very much.
Yet, technically, an A380 can land in Kai Tak!
