Chasing the WNYP on the Oil City Branch: 6-17-11

On Friday, June 17th, 2011, I'd originally planned to chase the WNYP's ME-1 from Meadville, PA, to Falconer, NY, and back. This would include the interchange with OL-2 at Falconer. However, the week I was in the area, the schedule for the WNYP (which has been the same for countless years) was changed. Instead, I'd be sent on a chase of ME-1 down the Oil City Branch to McClintock Yard and back to Meadville. Also included in this video is some evening footage of a couple trains on the Erie Lake Shore the same day. Enjoy!

Oil City is a dead town both as far as the railroads and the oil industry. Do any trains even cross the y bridge anymore????

For those who want to catch a train over the Wye bridge in oil city the only freight that goes over it is to Consolidated container co. 15 mineral street, where the line end if you call or stop they should be able to give you a schedule for their car swops. Atleast once a month i do believe when i worked their years ago.

I am leaving Sunday Oct. 2, 2011 to fly to Buffalo and hope to shoot the Oil City Local on Monday! It doesn't get much better than this!

Nice video Cody! I loved hearing the old Conrail detector again; there used to be one in Amsterdam where I usually railfan, and CSX recently replaced it.
