"Not so simple of Simple Edit Interface"
Many CMS, MySource Matrix included, offer simple edit options available through web interfaces, but Simplicity is complicated.

This presentation will take two points of view on the development of MySource Matrix simple edit interfaces.

From the developer perspective; What lessons have we learnt from developing Simple Edit Intefaces; What are the key considerations when producing a simple edit interface? And finally what tools are available to MySource Matrix front end developers when developing Simple Edit Interfaces?

From the business owner perspective; Is it possible to make available to the content author a web interface that enables them to perform a satisfactory number of tasks? Without investing in an extraordinary level of development, is it possible to separate authors from the administrative functions of Matrix in a manner that can be sustained by a small technical team operating in a distributed authoring environment? The University of Tasmania has aimed for this. Have we done enough?

Karl Davidson has been the Squiz Regional Manager for Tasmania during the past 4 years and more recently has taken on the Management of South Australia. Prior to joining Squiz Karl worked in both State and Local Government implementing online information management resources at a technical and managerial level. Whilst working with Squiz Karl has built helped build the second largest Squiz office in Australia taking on the National Support desk whilst also growing the MySource Matrix user base locally.

Maria Moore has 13 years experience in web development and service delivery on the internet. She is Web Services Coordinator at the University of Tasmania (UTAS), and is responsible for providing a cohesive and comprehensive support environment for UTAS web developers while also contributing to the strategic development of the UTAS web presence. Her main interest is in improving the user experience and effectiveness of web presences.
