Yes, the larger athletes can have that advantage of keeping body temp up. Unfortunately, you have some (and sometimes "many" as in the case of the Boise 2012 70.3 race) of the pros pull out of the race for no other reason than that the water is so dang freezing. If Coeur d' Alene would hold it a week or two later into July, you would have perfect conditions. But instead, they keep it in June and are able to deny it being a factor in the death of an athlete last year. (all things considered).

my friend also did 2011 and said he couldn't feel his hands after the swim, what a brutal swim. I did Arizona and I thought 64 wasn't bad but i'm a bigger guy so it was warm in the wetsuit but many smaller athletes were pulled for hypothermia.
