Heart disease is the #1 killer in the U.S., but the good news is that anyone can reduce their risk for heart attack and stroke. Awareness of cardiovascular risk factors (lifestyle, cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure, etc.) is the key to prevention and early detection. For the past 15 years, the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association (PCNA) has been committed to supporting the leading role that nurses play in preventing this national epidemic. PCNA takes a hands-on approach by engaging patients to identify personal risk factors, implement lifestyle and behavioral changes, and seek the proper medical therapies. This video highlights PCNAs efforts to develop comprehensive and effective CVD risk reduction programs across the U.S. and worldwide.
