BECK * DO WE? WE DO * Performed by DOOZY

This is Doozy's rendition of "Do We? We Do" from the upcoming collection of sheet music by Beck called "Song Reader." When we heard early versions of this song we thought it could have been written by Doozy. In fact, we liked it so much we wrote an additional middle eight section and final verse! Peter Hastings shot this video at a recent rehearsal. Henry Spurgeon wrote the horn arrangement. Christie Mellor wrote the additional lyrics and Doug Freeman the additional music. Do we like it? Probably the most popular song of 'Song Reader' and undoubtedly the most 'chameleonic' one to the point of becoming impossible to choose my fave version. Anyway I think this band could make a delightifully conventional version. One of my faves.

Cool, just checked out the dinner party download podcast, where they played a little of this while interviewing Beck. At least we know he's heard about 16 seconds of our version!

The genius of Songreader is that Beck by not performing the songs himself (as of yet) has placed pop music back into the hands of average people. Local musicians and not a superstar in a position of where they are setting the "standard" for what a given song should sound like, you know -the definitive version. Here, Doozy has accomplished just that with Do We? We Do.
