How world-famous advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi came to prominence by producing election advertising campaigns for Margaret Thatcher's Conservative Party during the 1980's. From the BBC Four documentary "The Rise and Fall of the Ad Man".

  • Using advertising to bypass people's critical faculties the same way fizzy brown sugar water can be sold as "fun" instead of the nasty stuff it is really opened the door to our modern superficial electoral process where most people would know a platform if it fell on them and it doesn't matter anyway because no politician would keep to one.

    Style wins over substance.
