President Obama is used to hearing his name yelled angrily at conservative Tea Party protests. On Monday night, however, he faced hecklers at a more unlikely venue: a Democratic fundraiser in Los Angeles for California Sen. Barbara Boxer.

And yes, the hecklers were attacking the president from the left. "Repeal 'don't ask, don't tell'!" the protesters yelled, referring to the 1993 military policy that bans gays and lesbians from openly serving. Obama responded, "We are going to do that; hey, hold on a second, hold on a second

Put simply, you stated that Fox is banned in Canada because it doesn't keep to facts. I pulled up information stating it is available in Canada via 10 communications distributors, and found no information referencing Canada's alledged objections to Fox's content. You then go so far as to speak for Canadians and reference nonexistent laws forbidding undefined activities. That is not fact checking, its called making shit up.

  • @vaasnaad

Fox is on cable here in America too, I watch it on cable. Why does that matter? The statement "most Canadians know it's American partisan propaganda" is not provable and cannot be taken as a fact (just your opinion or belief). I would also hesitate to say it doesn't get good ratings as what I've read indicates it is a dominant news entity atm. Also, what laws prevent them from operating and what exactly is it that they want to do that they can't? Be specific.

  • @vaasnaad

First of all, I do not fact check only liberal sources. In fact, I believe only idiots are 100% republican or 100% democrat. I'm roughly 80/20. Second, you cannot just ham-handedly say there are all these websites out there and tell me to "hurry up". That does not count as backing up your statements. Also, how do you know Reagan DIDN'T inherit a worse economy than Obama? I will have to look into that myself as I don't know but I wouldn't go assuming anything just yet.

  • @vaasnaad Sorry, I didn't fact check enough. You DON'T have me. There is a truth in broadcasting law that DOES prevent Fox from operating in Canada. That is why Fox News is only available on cable. Fox made a stink and got on cable up there, but most Canadians know it's American partisan propaganda, which is why it doesn't get good ratings. But there ARE laws that make it impossible for them to operate up there like they want. See - fact checking.

  • @jesseleewelch Obviously you only fact check "liberal" sources or you would know there are sites that are DEDICATED to reference cited corrections of the vast mountain of lies pooped out by Fox news. There's not enough room and I'm not going to argue with the brainwashed. But here: Last October Hannity himself said Reagan inherited a worse economy than Obama. Hurry - you're lagging behind what several billion already know. Take 2 minutes and you'll have about 100 more examples.

  • @jesseleewelch Yup you got me on that one. Very sad state of affairs for Canada.

  • *Continued from last post*

Fox News Channel is currently offered by Access Communications, Bell TV, Cogeco, Eastlink, Manitoba Telecom Services, Rogers, SaskTel, Shaw Cable, Shaw Direct and Telus TV.

I pulled that off of Wikipedia, so your assertion that Fox News is not available in Canada is incorrect. It is. See, that is what's called fact checking.

  • In 2003, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) rejected a Canadian Cable Telecommunications Association (CCTA) application to bring Fox News to Canada because Fox News U.S. and Global Television were planning to create Fox News Canada, a combination of U.S. and Canadian news. However in 2004, after a Fox U.S. executive said there were no plans to create the combined channel, the CRTC approved an application to bring Fox News to Canada.[77]

  • @vaasnaad

I've already challenged you to provide me with SPECIFIC examples of when Fox has not backed up their statements with sources. I would also challenge you to provide me with specific examples of when the Tea Party has been violent and/or racist. In fact, I'd like you to back up all of your assertions instead of throwing them out there baselessly and expecting people to just agree with you. What more must I do to "hit you up"? I've already issued the challenge.

  • @vaasnaad

Actually, I make it a point to fact check much of what I hear and watch C-Span as a primary source so I can see our politicians discussing things firsthand. You pretend like you "know better" but so far I'm the only one backing up what I say with facts. I guess its a lot like Fox News and MSNBC. One is backed up, the other is just snide commentary.
