are these salmon GMO?
hamid954 6 months ago 5
@hamid954 Definitely not! All our salmon eggs come from salmon that were caught from the wild coming back to the Seymour River. The salmon fry from these eggs are release into the river as fry and allowed to go out into the wild. If they are lucky enough to survive and grow into adults, then make it back to the Seymour, they'll be able to spawn naturally in the river. Just like wild fish!

What is that red thing at 1:02?

@ToonShoot That's the yolk sac that the alevin will get energy from to grow into a salmon fry!

@mattcass82 what is the difference between alevin and fry? are alevin with the yolk sacs and fry are without them (when they are older)? thanks

@allsportslover02 - you got it! Alevin have the yolk sac. Once the yolk sac is gone the fry will swim out of the gravel and start feeding.
